The Badlands offers two campgrounds onsite, but back country camping, and backpacking is also permitted without a permit currently. Due to the unpredictable nature of the terrain and weather, it’s advisable to plan your back country trip with a park ranger. Sturgis Bike RallySouth Dakota is the place to be this summer if you love a good time. Sturgis, SD is home to the illustrious Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and only 30 minutes from Rapid City. This motorcycle rally goes on for ten days during the first full week of August. Enjoy music, street food, people from all over the country, and of course motorcycles!  Don’t be surprised if you feel “love in the air” while at Sturgis. Many weddings often take place at Sturgis during the rally!
